Have just now arrived in oh hell my jun­gle par­adise night­mare. We are holed up on a small island called Kecil in the Per­hent­ian Islands off the East coast of the Malaysian penin­sula in the South China Sea. No hot water, inter­mit­tent inter­net, no elec­tric­ity from 9am-5pm, shark-infested waters and all the crea­tures of the jun­gle for free.

Yes­ter­day was dif­fer­ent. Upon arrival to not-so-glorious Penang we sat down for lunch at a sec­ond rate mall eatery when sud­denly Chan felt a wave of dizzi­ness over­take her head, and limbs weak and tin­gling. After down­ing a bot­tle of water and an hour or two of debate we hopped a cab to the hospital.

Spent a splen­did after­noon yes­ter­day in the Cameron High­lands chat­ting pol­i­tics, reli­gion, race, cul­ture, fam­ily etc. with a 20/30-something cou­ple from Berlin via Turkey. High­light: He said he some­times googles Obama speeches just for inspi­ra­tion. Gotta love it!
